Yuanyuan Pu

Dr. Yuanyuan Pu is an Associate Professor at the School of Resources and Safety Engineering, Chongqing University, and a permanent member of the State Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Disaster Dynamics and Control. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2019, under the supervision of Professor Derek B. Apel, a renowned scholar in the field of mining geophysics and the head of the Department of Mining Engineering. His doctoral dissertation, "Machine Learning Approaches for Long-term Rock Burst Prediction," was awarded the Outstanding Thesis Award (OTA) at the University of Alberta. After graduation, Dr. Pu served as a Research Associate at the University of Alberta before joining the team at Chongqing University focused on the intelligent early warning of rock signals and coal-rock dynamic disasters.

 

In his research field, Associate Professor Pu has published 31 SCI/EI indexed papers. Among them, he has published 25 SCI-indexed papers (18 in JCR Q1) as the first author or corresponding author, covering high-impact journals such as Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, Engineering Geology, International Journal of Mining Science and Technology, Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, and Powder Technology. He has also published 6 EI-indexed papers as the first author or corresponding author in prominent Chinese journals such as Journal of China Coal Society and Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering. He has led one National Natural Science Foundation (NNSF) project, one National Natural Science Youth Foundation (NNSYF) project, one major enterprise-commissioned project (funded with 2.23 million RMB), several open fund and general projects of the State Key Laboratory, and has been the second-ranked principal investigator in a youth project task of the National Key Research and Development Program. Additionally, he has participated in one National Key Research and Development Program and one general project. Dr. Pu has received the First Prize of Chongqing Science and Technology Progress Award in 2021 (ranked 4th) and in 2020 (ranked 8th).
