Wei Zhao, associate professor, was selected as one of the annual top 2% influential scientists in the world (Stanford University), a young talent supported by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, and a pioneer in teaching and educating at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). He is committed to researching the prevention of coal and gas outbursts, which are potential hazard to coal mine safety. As a PI, he has been awarded 7 mine safety related projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Project sub-topics, National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Project and Youth Project), Beijing Municipal Fund (General Project and Youth Project). He has published 59 peer-reviewed papers with over 1700 citations, 27 published as the first author or corresponding author, 1 in F5000, 2 highly cited papers in ESI, and 2 ranked Top 10 in LCS under global topics (diffusion of gas in coal, coal and gas outbursts). In addition, he has won 8 domestic, and industry association teaching and research awards. As the leading supervisor, he has advised undergraduate students to win 9 mine safety competition awards, such as the “Challenge Cup”.
