Dr. Zhongbei Li is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia, and a Guest Researcher at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO). His doctoral thesis was awarded the Examiners' Commendation for Outstanding Thesis. His research focuses on coal and gas outburst and CO2 geological storage in abandoned coal mines. His innovative findings have been adopted by coal mines in the Sydney Basin, contributing to revisions of regional standards for coal and gas outburst management. He also led research team to win the Gold Award in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition. Dr. Li has led and participated in several major research projects, including ANSTO merit-based beamtime grants, the UOW-ANSTO Joint Seed Funding, and ACARP projects, providing both theoretical and engineering support for mine safety and CO2 storage. Dr. Li has published over 30 papers in leading journals such as International Journal of Mining Science and Technology, Energy, and Journal of China Coal Society, with several recognized as ESI Highly Cited and Hot Papers. He has delivered or chaired over ten invited sessions at international conferences across China, the United States, and Australia, and serves on Youth Editorial Boards of several international journals.
