Chaojun Fan (1990.7-) is a professor of the College of Mining at Liaoning Technical University. He was a visiting scholar at Pennsylvania State University from 2017 to 2019. He has been engaged in research on coal mine gas disaster prevention, with particularly coal and gas outbursts prevention. He has led more than 30 research projects, including the Natural Science Foundation of China, Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China, the major special projects of Inner Mongolia Science and Technology (11.45 million RMB), and funding from enterprises. He has published 117 academic papers, including 2 ESI hot spots and 7 highly cited papers, and has been recognized as a World's Top 2% Most Influential Scientists. He has granted 23 Chinese invention patents and 5 software copyrights, published 3 books, and drafted 3 local standards and 1 industry standard. The achievements were identified as one of the world's leading and three of the world's advanced levels. He has received more than 10 provincial level awards, including the second prize of Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (R1, R3), the second prize of Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (R2), the first prize of China Occupational Safety and Health Association (R1, R6), the second prize (R1), and the second prize of China Coal Science and Technology Award (R1). He has proposed the geological dynamic system theory of coal and gas outbursts, enabling quantitative and refined prediction of such disasters. On this basis, he developed the key technology of "unloading–pressure reducing–resistance" collaborative outburst prevention in coal seams. Committed to translating research outcomes into on?site engineering practices, he has implemented these technologies in over 20 coal mines across China, including Tiefa in Liaoning, Lu'an in Shanxi, and Pingdingshan in Henan, effectively mitigating major hazard risks and achieving substantial economic and social benefits.
