Liang Zhang
ZHANG Liang is an Associate Research Fellow at the Deep Mining and Rock Burst Prevention Research Institute, CCTEG Chinese Institute of Coal Science. He received his B.Eng. in Safety Engineering (Liaoning Technical University, 2015) and Ph.D. in Safety Science and Engineering (China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing, 2021), including a China Scholarship Council-funded joint Ph.D. at the University of Wollongong, Australia. His research focuses on coal-rock creep mechanics, three-dimensional in-situ stress measurement, non-destructive detection of underground structures and rock burst prevention. He has revealed the intrinsic evolution law and multi-scale coupled controlling mechanisms of coal-rock creep, independently invented a twelve-component small-aperture bottom-hole strain gauge that overcomes the bottleneck of in-situ 3D stress measurement in fractured coal-rock mass, and developed key shielded ground-penetrating radar technologies, forming an integrated underground-surface detection system. These technologies have been applied in mining areas of Shandong, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, accomplishing non-destructive detection of buried pipelines, integrity inspection of a frozen wall at 816 m depth and coal-rock interface identification, with proven field performance. He has led four projects, including two funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program and Young Scientists Fund). He has published 25 papers in journals such as Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering and Engineering Fracture Mechanics, holds 15 granted or pending invention patents, and contributed to rock burst situation analysis reports and prevention code revision. He has delivered five invited talks at conferences including the 15th ISRM Congress and the International Symposium on Mine Safety Science and Engineering. He serves as an NSFC peer review expert, inaugural Youth Editorial Board Member of GeoEnergy Communications and reviewer of Coal Science and Technology. His honors include the National Scholarship for Doctoral Students, Beijing Outstanding Doctoral Graduate, CNKI High-Impact Scholar and CCTEG Young Top-notch Talent.
