Majid Khan
Dr. Majid Khan is a an Associate Professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, China. He is a geophysicist and applies geophysical methods for predicting dynamic geological disasters. His research focuses on rockburst predictions, fractures characterization, and geological faults identification. He developed a novel method of fractures mapping to successfully predict dynamic failures in various coal mines in China. He has published over 65 research articles in SCI journals, over 15 conference papers, and authorized a patent. He won number of research grants as PI including Research Fund for International Young Scientists (NSFC), Beijing Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology Fund and several other projects. He holds leadership roles in several renowned organizations, including Mentor for the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing (for Pakistani Young Professionals and PhDs), Vice President, China-Pakistan Commercial Alliance International, Senior Advisor to the All-China Environment Federation, Secretary of the International Committee on Mine Safety Science and Engineering (ICMSSE), Foreign Talent of the Zhongguancun Talent Association, and Enterprise Tutor at Beijing Technology and Business University. Dr. Khan also serves on SEG and AGU leadership committees in the United States, holds editorial positions, and has received several high-level academic honors. His science communication talks have been featured in international media outlets.
