Dr. Guangping Huang is a full professor at the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a committed mining researcher mainly working on Innovative Cementitious Materials for Mine Rock Support and Mine Waste Recycling and Utilization. He developed innovative shotcrete mixtures for rock support in permafrost regions, which can achieve fast strength development at cold environment thereby significantly improved the mine roadway safety in permafrost regions. Additionally, he successfully manufactured the first bag of cement in the history of Northwest Territories (NWT), Canada, with their local materials and mine waste. This work is expected to provide low-carbon and low-cost cement for mine rock support in the NWT and reduce the environmental concerns caused by the mine waste. His research is highly recognized by academy, industry, and government. In his very early academic career, he delivered over 30 peer-reviewed journal papers (including 18 CAS Q1 papers) with a Google Scholar H-index of 14 and a citation number of 599. In addition, his work was also reported by CIM Magazine and Canadian government website. Due to his great work, he has been rewarded as NSFC Excellent Young Scholar and Innovative Scholar of Hubei Province, China in 2024.
