Dr. Chao Xu, Ph.D., the professor and doctoral supervisor at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), and the director of the Department of Safety Engineering. He has been selected for the Fifth China Association for Science and Technology's Young Talent Support Program, listed among the world's top 2% of scientists by Stanford University, and recognized as a top 1% highly cited researcher by CNKI. He also serves as a member of the Technical Committee for Standardization in Mine Safety, a young member of the Gas Prevention and Utilization Special Committee of the China Occupational Safety and Health Association, a director of the Soft Rock Engineering and Deep Disaster Control Branch of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and a science communication expert of the China Coal Society. In recent years, he has led three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and three sub-projects of the National Key Research and Development Program. As the first or corresponding author, he has published over 50 high-level academic papers and obtained 39 national invention patents (34 as the first inventor). He has won 14 provincial, ministerial, and industry-level science and technology awards (including 4 first prizes, 7 second prizes, and 3 third prizes).
