Professor Ting REN of the University of Wollongong, Australia, a member of the International Committee on Mine Safety Science and Engineering, was invited to visit the University of Science and Technology Beijing to promote academic exchanges and co-operation between the two universities.

From  December 13 to December 14, 2023, Professor Ting Ren, a member of the International Committee on Mine Safety Science and Engineering and a Professor at the University of Wollongong, Australia, was invited by Professor Xueqiu He, Chair of the International Committee on Mine Safety Science and Engineering and Professor of the University of Science and Technology Beijing. Professor Ting Ren visited the University of Science and Technology Beijing and participated in a two-day academic exchange activity.

Professor Ting Ren had an in-depth discussion with Shengjun Miao, Dean of the School of Civil and Resource Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Dazhao Song, Vice Dean of the School of Civil and Resource Engineering, and Tianwen Zhang of the International Office. They addressed issues related to China-foreign cooperation in running schools, inter-university faculty and students' visits, international joint labs, joint ventures, and other matters. The hope is that these exchanges and cooperation efforts will promote the further development of the two schools' specializations in Safety Science and Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and more. 

During the presentation, Professor Ting Ren delivered a wonderful academic report on the topics of mine dust, coal and gas outbursts, gas extraction, spontaneous combustion, fire in coal seams, and mine fires. This presentation sparked great interest among the students and teachers attending the seminar. Following the presentation, students and teachers of USTB engaged in an in-depth exchange and discussion with Professor Ting Ren.
